Student travel product

The student travel product is part of student finance. When applying for the student travel product, you choose a weekday or a weekend subscription. Depending on your subscription, you can travel on public transport for free or at a discounted rate. MBO students under 18 are also eligible for the travel product.

The student travel product is a gift if you are in MBO level 1 (‘entrée-opleiding’) or 2. For MBO level 3 or 4, HBO, and university programmes, the student travel product is a ‘performance grant’. This means the student travel product becomes a gift if you obtain your diploma within 10 years. If you do not obtain your diploma within 10 years, you will need to repay the full amount, plus interest.
