You are receiving Wajong

If you obtain your diploma within the 10 year diploma period, you do not need to repay your performance grant (basic grant, supplementary grant, and student travel product). It will be converted into a gift instead.

Did you become fully and permanently incapacitated for work during your diploma period and are you unable to obtain your diploma as a result? If you are eligible for Wajong (young disabled persons benefit), you can ask us to convert your performance grant into a gift. You can submit this application without the involvement of a student counsellor or study advisor.

Withdrawing during your 1st year

If you withdraw during the 1st year of your programme at university or HBO, perhaps you do not need to apply for conversion of your performance grant. Check first if you are eligible for the first year scheme.

Consequences for your student finance

You are following an MBO programme

If your application is approved, your performance grant (basic grant, supplementary grant, and student travel product) will be converted into a gift.

You are studying at university or HBO

If your application is approved, we will convert your performance grant (basic grant, supplementary grant, and student travel product) into a gift. Did you take an MBO programme before embarking on a programme at university or HBO? Or vice versa? If so, we will check when you first became eligible for Wajong. This determines for which study programme or programmes we will convert the performance grant.

Student counsellor or study advisor

Notify your study programme as soon as possible if you fall behind with your studies or there is a risk that you will drop out. If you are studying at university or HBO, contact the student counsellor (‘studentendecaan’). MBO students should contact their study advisor. If you are receiving Wajong, the student counsellor or study advisor is not needed to apply for conversion of your performance grant. However, the student counsellor or study advisor can help you to limit or catch up on any study delay.
