Haven’t you finished your studies yet, but have you used up all of your months of basic grant and supplementary grant? One measure to help students during the Covid restrictions, is the compensation for the loss of your grant .
Conditions
- You are doing MBO level 3 or 4, HBO or university.
- Your last month of basic grant or supplementary grant (over €0) was in the period from June 2020 to August 2023.
After your last month with a basic grant or supplementary grant, you can only borrow.
Amount
You will receive the compensation on a one-off basis. The amount depends on your grant. If you were entitled to a supplementary grant in the last month, you will receive more than if you only received a basic grant.

Notice and payment
You don't need to apply for the compensation. If you qualify for it, DUO will send you a notice automatically.
The scheme ends on 1 December, 2024. The last payments will be made in December of 2024 to students meeting the conditions on 1 December, 2024.
Gift
The compensation is a gift. You don't have to pay it back.
