Additional repayments
If you want to make a single additional repayment, you can do so in Mijn DUO. You can usually pay using iDEAL. If you do not see the iDEAL button, you can arrange a manual bank transfer.
If you are due to pay course fees, or if you have an outstanding student travel product fine, your extra payment will be used for this debt first.
You can’t pay instalments in advance
Do you want to make an extra payment in order to pay future instalments in advance? This is not possible. You can only pay your instalments per month.
How to make an additional payment
- Log into Mijn DUO.
- Pay using iDEAL.
Manual bank transfer
If you cannot pay using iDEAL in Mijn DUO:
- Transfer your payment to account number NL45 INGB 0705 0019 03 in the name Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs, Groningen.
- Under ‘Description’ (‘Omschrijving’) or equivalent, enter your Dutch Citizen Service Number (burgerservicenummer, BSN) with the extension ‘ILS’. For example: 123466789ILS. This extension ensures the correct processing of your payment.
Confirmation
You only receive a message confirming your additional repayment if you have transferred at least € 45.00. If you used iDEAL, you are notified within a few days. If you have paid by manual bank transfer, it may take approximately 2 weeks. You can view all additional repayments in Mijn DUO, under ‘Bij- en afschrijvingen’.

Having your instalments recalculated
After you have made an additional repayment, we can sometimes recalculate your monthly instalments. This depends on the amount of your payment and the remaining debt. If you make the payment in Mijn DUO using iDEAL, you can indicate there if you want your instalments to be recalculated. If you pay by manual bank transfer, please contact us.
