Paying course fees

Are you 18 or over on Augustus 1, 2026? And are you enrolled in MBO-BOL (school-based secondary vocational education) or full-time VAVO (secondary education for adults)? Then you must pay course fees for the 2026-2027 school year. You don’t need to pay course fees for regular secondary education or private VAVO programmes.

The course fees for the 2026-2027 academic year are €1,511. The bill will be sent early September 2026.

How do you want to pay your course fees?

You can pay in different manners:

  • all at once
  • in 9 instalments
  • somebody else pays for you.

Paying all at once

You can pay €1,511 at once by iDEAL | Wero in Mijn DUO. Or transfer the money using the payment details provided on the bill.

Paying in instalments

You can also pay the course fees in 9 instalments of €167.89.

Did you pay the course fees in 9 instalments yourself last school year? And do you want to do so again? Then you don't need to take any action. You will automatically pay in 9 instalments again this school year.

Haven’t you paid course fees in instalments before? Request an instalment plan in Mijn DUO.

Log in to Mijn DUOwith DigiD

The instalments will be debited from your account on or around the 25th of each month. The 1st instalment will be debited in the month following your request. After your request you will receive a notice. The notice states exactly how much you will pay and when. Of course you will find this information in Mijn DUO as well.

Somebody else pays

Somebody else can pay your course fees. This person can pay €1,511 at once or 9 instalments of €167.89. The instalments will be paid by direct debit.

If somebody pays the full amount at once, give them the bill. They can transfer the money using the payment details provided on the bill.

If somebody else pays in 9 instalments:

  • Complete the ‘Aanvraag termijnregeling lesgeld’ form.
  • Log in to Mijn DUO and indicate that somebody else pays.
  • Upload the form.

Course fees reimbursement

Do you receive student finance or a grant for students at secondary education? If you have a supplementary grant, this also includes a reimbursement for course fees. The amount is about €100 monthly.

I’m in full-time VAVO

Only if you are in full-time VAVO (secondary education for adults), the reimbursment will not be paid to you. Instead, the amount will be used to settle the course fees. If there are any course fees left, you will have to pay these yourself. You can pay the full amount at once or in instalments. You will be notified if this applies to you.

Disenrolled or enrolled later?

If you started later on in the academic year, you may be charged lower course fees. If you terminated your enrolment early, you may be eligible for a refund.
