Basic funding

Schools receive basic funding. The basic funding consists of:

  • an amount per school
  • an amount per pupil

Schools automatically receive part of this amount each month.

Amount per school

This amount is based on the total number of pupils at the school. There are 3 fixed amounts for:

  • 600 or fewer
  • 601 to 1,200 pupils
  • 1,201 or more

Amount per pupil

For schools on Bonaire, there are different amounts for pupils enrolled in:

  • Elementary vocational training (praktijkonderwijs), the 3rd or 4th year of the vbo (preparatory vocational education) basic vocational or advanced vocational track, international transitional class, and specific educational needs.
  • The combined track vmbo (pre-vocational secondary education), the lower and upper years of vwo, havo, mavo or vbo.

For schools on Saba and Sint Eustatius, there are different amounts for pupils enrolled in:

  • the lower forms of CSEC and CAPE education
  • elementary vocational training (praktijkonderwijs) or CVQ training

Career guidance for (former) pupils in elementary vocational training

For pupils enrolled in elementary vocational training (praktijkonderwijs), schools automatically receive funding for career guidance. Its purpose is to support (former) pupils in their transition to the labour market.

This is not a separate funding subject in the Overview of Financial Decisions (OFB) or in the financial breakdown. It is included into the amount per pupil for elementary vocational training.
